Don't Move, Improve! 2010

ENTRY TO THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW CLOSED

NLA, in association with the London Development Agency, Mayor of London and RIBA London and media partners Time Out and Elle Decoration, is inviting submissions for Don't Move, Improve! 2010 - a competition, now in its second year, to find the best and most innovative home extensions and small office conversions in London.

The competition will seek to find the best ways to create more space to live and work in London, and is open to architectural practices and members of the public who have completed extensions or refurbishment projects in London within the last three years.

Judging
Shortlisted projects will be judged by an eminent jury including Peter Bishop, Deputy Chief Executive of the London Development Agency, Peter Murray, Chairman of NLA, Elle Decoration's Editor-in-Chief Michelle Ogundehin, Luke Tozer of Pitman Tozer Architects, Soraya Khan of Theis and Khan and Heal's Senior Buyer Tim Ely, within the following categories:
  • Best Home Extension or Refurbishment (single unit residential)
  • Best Office Extension or Refurbishment (max. 1,000 sqm)
  • Best Sustainable Project (all projects submitted will be considered for this category if relevant)
  • Special prizes will also be awarded for best use of timber, glass, brick, concrete and landscaping, where appropriate

Prizes
  • Shortlisted projects will be showcased in an exhibition at NLA from December 2010 - February 2011
  • Winning schemes will be featured in Time Out magazine and Elle Decoration and announced at an awards evening at NLA in December
  • Shortlisted architects will also be invited to take part in a series of Don't Move, Improve! public events, offering advice and talks on home extensions, design and being more green and energy efficient
  • Winning practices will be awarded a 12-month membership of NLA (value: £1,000)
  • Winning homeowners will be awarded gift vouchers from a high-end furniture retailer

How to Enter
  • Projects can be submitted online by completing one entry form per project
  • An entry fee of £95 +VAT applies to each project submitted
  • Projects must have been completed within the last three years
  • Projects must be based within Greater London
