The London Olympics have driven a rapid expansion in hotel development, with around 13,000 new rooms opening during 2012 and 2013. This expansion has seen a host of new international brands flooding to the capital, from American boutique operator Thompson Hotels to Asian brand Shangri-La. But with such a concentrated influx of investment, which markets and brands will be driving the hotel market beyond the Games?
This NLA briefing will examine the forecast for hotel development and investment in 2013 and beyond, look at the key areas of growth in the legacy of 2012, and discuss the new markets and brands, from hostels to serviced apartments and luxury hotels, that will continue to drive hotel investment in the capital beyond the Games.
