Following popular demand, NLA's second annual day of free Don't Move, Improve! events will be taking place on Saturday 12 February, giving free advice and inspiration to Londoners looking to extend their homes.
Architects and interior designers will be offering free design surgeries throughout the day; there will be free talks from speakers including Naomi Cleaver, designer, writer and television presenter on getting started with your home extension, how to cut costs while helping to save the planet, and architects giving design inspiration; an exhibition of 50 of the capital's best home extensions; demonstrations; special promotions; free giveaways, and much more!
All events are free to attend, but booking is highly recommended for the consultations and talks.

Surgeries (Booking highly recommended)
Free 20-30 minute consultations with an architect, interior designer and/or kitchen designer.
Please bring along as much information as possible about your home/ extension project on the day, such as plans, drawings and photographs.
- Architect Surgeries
Winning and shortlisted architects from NLA’s 2010 competition to find London’s best home extensions will be giving free one-to-one consultations to anyone looking for advice on their own home extension – suitable for those who are well underway with a home extension or simply wanting some advice on where to start.
- Interior Design Surgeries
BoConcept, Heal's and Molteni&C Dada will be offering free one-to-one interior design consultations with qualified interior designers.
- Kitchen Design Surgeries
Free Kitchen Design Surgeries with Naomi Cleaver, designer, writer and television presenter, will take place at the Molteni&C and Dada Flagship Store, 199 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2H 8JR. Working with your floorplans, the experts at Molteni&C Dada will offer help and advice on how to make the best use of your kitchen space.

Thinking of extending your home and unsure of how to start? Naomi Cleaver, designer, writer and television presenter, will discuss her dos and don'ts. Also get expert advice on where to start when extending your home, the planning process, exploiting the potential of permitted development, selecting and working with an architect and writing a sound design brief.
- 1.30-2.15pm 'How to cut costs and help save the planet'
Tips on carrying out an extension with cost saving in mind, at the same time as reducing energy and water use.
- 3.00-3.45pm ' Design inspiration'
For those who need some design inspiration for their own home extension, sit back and hear from some of the winning architects from NLA's competition to find the capital's best home extensions, on the design challenges and solutions behind their own projects.
An exhibition of the 50 inspirational winning and shortlisted projects from NLA's Don't Move, Improve! 2010 competition, now in its second year, to find the capital's best designed and most innovative home extentions.

- Energy Saving Trust
If you are looking for easy ways to stop wasting energy and money, then visit the Energy Saving Trust stand where National Energy Action trained advisors will be on hand to advise on grants and offers for home improvements; insulation and heating; and generating your own electricity. The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation that provides free and impartial advice on how to stop wasting energy.
- Thames Water
Thames Water will be on hand to offer advice on reducing your water consumption, as well as giving out free water-saving devices.
