Zaha Hadid 1950 - 2016

Friday 1 April 2016

New London Architecture (NLA) is saddened by the news of Zaha Hadid’s death. In 2015 she won the New Londoner of the Year Award in recognition of her contribution to the capital’s cultural life and to the role of women in architecture.

Zaha changed the way we look at buildings and the way we make them. She created recognisable icons in cities around the world and in doing so reinforced London’s cultural reputation. Today London is a global hub for construction and design skills and this is in no small part due to Zaha.
She had more work to give. The tragedy is in the loss of the work that she would have done but now never will.
