Joanna has had a career spanning over 40 years as one of the leading engineers in the country. Joanna is a chartered civil engineer and was for many years a Director of Arup, a leading firm of international consultants in the built environment.
Until 2013 she was the firm’s Global Leader of Programme and Project Management and responsible for the leadership of numerous major construction projects. She has held a number of public appointments including Deputy Chairman of the Port of London Authority and Council member of the EPSRC. She is currently a Non-Executive Director of Native Land and the ERA Foundation as well as a Trustee of the National Portrait Gallery.
Joanna was awarded an OBE in 1995 for services to consulting engineering and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1997. During her career Joanna has received several awards including Woman of the Year in the Atkins Inspire awards in 2007 and the CBI/Real Business First Woman of Engineering in 2013.
