Central government has recently announced plans for regenerating housing estates across the UK, and has set up a new Estate Regeneration Advisory Panel, chaired by Lord Heseltine, to tackle failing housing estates.
With housing so high on the political agenda, what are the major issues London faces around estate renewal, and how can central and local government work with partners to tackle them?
Following a senior roundtable series and briefing by Future of London on ‘Delivering Estate Renewal’, this free NLA breakfast talk will summarise FoL’s findings and focus on the critical role of community in estate renewal: working with leaseholders, tenants, stakeholders and participatory design. Far from being a ‘soft’ element of regeneration, this area must be managed well for schemes to succeed.
