Why not take part in the Considerate Cyclists’ Concours d’Elegance at the Mr Porter Nocturne on Saturday 4 June 2016 6.30 - 7.00 pm organised by the Architects’ Company as part of the London Festival of Architecture? Awards will go to the most stylish riders on the coolest bikes, cycling slowly round the Nocturne race circuit, passing Guildhall, Cheapside and St Paul’s.
Compete for the most elegant entry and most considerate cycling style; no lycra is allowed and urban/folding/hybrid bikes must be ridden rather than road bikes. The course will include tests of considerate cycling skills - with obstacles in the form of pedestrians, i-phone zombies, red lights, road works and taxis. The entry fee will go towards the Hendy/Murray fund for Safer Streets. To take part all you need to do is to donate here (Corporate entries are £100.00 each rider and individuals £15.00 each) and you will be automatically registered for the event.
Peter Murray, Chairman of NLA and Master of the Architects’ Company, says “It is important that pedestrians and cyclists can exist in harmony in the crowded streets and alleyways of the Square Mile. This event highlight the need for consideration on the part of all road users. With buildings like 22 Bishopsgate planning to provide parking for 2300 bicycles, this will be even more of a key issue in the City of the future."
