From London’s burgeoning Private Rented Sector to the Mayor’s Affordable Homes Programme, the capital’s rental market has grown exponentially in recent years. But what does this mean for the future of London’s neighbourhoods and communities? Who is this rental accommodation for? What challenges do we face in creating the right types of homes for a diverse range of Londoners?

The second of NLA’s bi-annual housing conferences will bring together the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, James Murray, with the capital’s leading housing experts for a discussion on current policy and a look at the major projects currently underway.

This conference is a part of NLA’s year-long Housing programme, covering key issues such as affordable housing, public sector land, the private rented sector, off-site manufacture, the appropriate densification of housing and how we enable small developers and custom builders. Please click here for more details.

HOUSING

NLQ

The delivery of housing remains the biggest issue facing London’s built environment. With an average increase of almost 4,000 households each year, and a current population of 8.8 million residents, as an industry we must address the challenges this incurs and create opportunities for innovation and new thinking.

Are space standards limiting London’s housing supply?

Event

The diversity of London’s housing stock must respond to the diversity of the Londoners it aims to serve. But are we building homes at the right shapes and sizes or are we bound by policies that don’t reflect the flexibility of those who live here?
