This tour highlights the dramatic renewal of this key two-station transport hub, which kick-started the regeneration of King’s Cross Central, 67acres of old railway and industrial land being transformed into a vibrant new neighbourhood for living, working, learning and play.
We will learn about five new office pavilions in various stages of readiness designed by architects as diverse as David Chipperfield and Porphyrios Associates which surround the newly created Pancras Square. Beyond and separated by the Regents Canal, our New London walk highlights a series of 19th century industrial buildings which are being imaginatively restored to house an art school, a gallery, offices, cooking schools, event spaces, a theatre, a clutch of bars and restaurants and a supermarket by Bennetts Associates. These sit adjacent to schools, parks, pools and an array of new residential apartment pavilions by AHMM, Macreanor Lavington and Glenn Howells. Still very much a work in progress, King’s Cross Central is already north London’s most exciting destination.
