Southwark Reborn: The next chapter

Tuesday 6 September – Saturday 5 November 2011

'City Reborn' by Kenneth Powell, with a foreword by Renzo Piano, was published in 2004 and celebrated Southwark's achievements in attracting world class developments. It records many completed award-winning schemes as well as projected schemes that had just been approved at that time including the London Bridge Tower, now known as the Shard.

Seven years on and Southwark's regeneration continues despite the recent economic downturn. Across the borough, from the Tate Modern extension to the extension of the South London Gallery, from Bermondsey Square to the Skyroom, Southwark continues to pursue excellence in urban design. This exhibition demonstrates the varied and mixed schemes that have been delivered through the planning service and reflects the dynamism and change that Southwark is known for.
