NLA’s Planning programme examines the rapidly changing shape of London, and explores how we can create a great city in a period of major growth.

Focusing on the development of the next London Plan under Mayor Sadiq Khan, a year-round programme brings together all stakeholders to inform policy-makers and debate and discuss the future shape of their city.

How is London planning for significant levels of predicted population growth? Where is development most needed in the capital? Where should new homes, schools, transport links and offices be built? How can the community get involved in helping shape plans in their area? And how should the regeneration of existing areas be best managed?

Smart planning - how digital technology can inform city shaping - NLA Think Tank

How can digital technology help to inform city shaping? Is it the future for the London Plan and smart cities? And how do we make progress on a 3D model? A Think Tank organized by NLA at CBRE’s City offices in May sought to find out.

The London Plan

Introducing the main policies and targets of the statutory spatial development strategy for the Greater London area, this film outlines London’s pragmatic planning system: including the role played by the 33 local borough councils and Mayor of London to strategic bodies like Historic England.
